Web Design CPU
Introduction
Websites
are everywhere. They're used to sell products and services, provide
analysis and opinion, entertain, and educate. In the Web Design
CPU, students discover how the Internet came to be and how to
create a web page using both HTML and a WYSIWYG (what you see is
what you get) editor. Students will explore technical aspects of
website creation when they consider file structure, when to use
certain image file types, the proper development of navigation, and
how typography plays an important role in the readability of a
website.
More importantly, however, students will learn
how to design a site. They'll understand the use of color and
contrast, and how to build the kinds of pages and navigation users
expect. You can have the most beautiful, informative website on the
Internet, but if no one can figure out how to get information from
it, then it's of little use.
