Introduction
The
Resource Conservation CPU involves the study of our
natural resources and their interconnectedness. It also
discusses human dependence on and usage of resources, as well as
methods of conserving them for a sustainable future.
B y completing this CPU, students will understand the roles of
natural resources in our lives and the basic necessity of their
availability. They will recognize the value of individual
resources such as soil, water, and fossil fuels. By examining
the inner workings of ecosystems and food webs, they will
understand the influence of one natural resource on another.
Through hands-on water and soil conservation experiments, they
can directly observe methods of conserving resources. They will
also make a commitment to waste reduction by reporting waste
management in their own homes.
